LUCIA MICARELLI TO APPEAR AS SPECIAL GUEST
ON THE TULL UK TOUR MARCH 2006

by Ian Anderson

Lucia Micarelli with Ian in Chicago November 2005Following her 28 shows with Tull in the USA during the last few weeks, Lucia Micarelli has confirmed her appearance as special integrated guest on the UK tour. Please note: she is NOT the opening act (Ian opens for the band. Well, at least, for the first 20 seconds) but she joins after about 30 minutes to play a duet with Ian, solo and with the band on some of the better-known Tull songs. In the second half, she contributes a couple of her own arrangements of rather interesting material as well as featuring in more of the Tull stuff towards the end of the concert.

Some e-mailed quotes from US concert-goers below:

Dear Ian, I was one of the lucky ones to have seen your first show in Denver on the 15th. It was just outstanding, one of the best shows I have ever seen. I hope to see you back in Denver soon! Lucia was phenomenal by the way.

Having just returned from the Chicago concert I can only say it was stunning -- simply a stunning performance!!! Your addition of the brilliantly talented and energetic Lucia Micarelli added a thrilling and magical touch to the evening.

hello from the 6 foot blonde latvian girl, ... dear ian, went to your show last night again in buffalo(i think it is my 10th time now, or so). absolutely loved it, especially Lucia. She was awesome, you should keep her permamently.

The classical overtones have always been why you are a favorite of mine, along with the humor you add to your performances. Lucia was amazing, causing me to purchase her CD during intermission. Your performance as a whole, the band, Lucia and yourself, was phenomenal.

Perhaps next time, Lucia can play violin to substitute for the Claghorn in Dharma for one. She was a superb adition to your tour. and easy on the eyes as well!

My sis & I saw you in Chicago Nov. 20 & you were awsome! Playing with the violinist was awe-inspiring, we cried it was so remarkable.

Had to send a message that I (we) thoroughly enjoyed the concert - wonderful addition of Lucia Micarelli rocked my socks.

OK, some of these folks may be too easily impressed by the bare-footed, nymph-like, Classical-rock-chick-partying-beer-in-each-hand but otherwise ladylike and demure Ms Micarelli – or were maybe smoking something stronger than Lucia’s Marlborough Red – but you get the drift. And she is much, much prettier than Willy Porter.

Lucia MicarelliLucia is also joining me for three orchestral shows in December. (See tour dates link.)
While it is rumoured that son James may be escorting her around dens of debauchery in London, she will be joining the rest of us for a family Christmas at home.

Lucia says she never had a tree at Christmas so, as we planted about 50,000 here during the last few years to offset my personal carbon emissions from air travel (about 2 tonnes CO2 per return transatlantic flight, in case you wondered) she can take her pick.

Might even dress her in the pink bouncy stage dress she wears and put her on top of the bloody thing on the 25th. As she is allergic to cats, it might be the safest place for her. And them.

Check out www.climatecare.org/airtravelcalc/airtravelcalc.cfm I just LOVE the bit where it says, “Calculate my emissions…..”
